Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This practical commentary on Revelation is conversant with contemporary scholarship, draws on ancient backgrounds, and attends to the theological nature of the text. Sigve Tonstad, an expert in the early Jewish context of the New Testament, offers a nonretributive reading of Revelation and addresses the issue of divine violence. Paideia commentaries explore how New Testament texts form Christian readers by attending to the ancient narrative and rhetorical strategies the text employs, showing how the text shapes moral habits, and making judicious use of photos and sidebars in a reader-friendly format.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry of the Word contains a complete record of the six messages given during the Memorial Day weekend conference held on May 23-26, 2008, in Dallas, Texas. The general subject of the conference was entitled "Experiencing and Enjoying Christ to Abound in the Work of Christ according to His Full Ministry of Three Stages--Incarnation, Inclusion, and Intensification." The main burden of the conference can be summarized by the following four statements: 1) We need to experience and enjoy Christ to abound in the work of Christ according to His full ministry of three stages--incarnation, inclusion, and intensification. 2) The seven Spirits as the seven eyes of Christ, the Lamb, infuse all that the Lamb is into our being so that we may be transformed into His image for God's building. 3) Christ as the sevenfold intensified Spirit is working to produce the overcomers by bringing them out of the degradation of the church back to the enjoyment of Himself for the finalization of God's New Testament economy. 4) Under the burning of the seven Spirits as the seven lamps of fire, the churches as golden lampstands will consummate in the New Jerusalem as the universal, eternal golden lampstand. Last of all, we include a report concerning recent conferences in Armenia and Georgia.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. It is filled with the revelation concerning the processed Triune God, the living Christ, the life-giving Spirit, the experience of life, and the definition and practice of the church. In this set Brother Lee has kept three basic principles that should rule and govern every believer in their interpretation, development, and expounding of the truths contained in the Scriptures. The first principle is that of the Triune God dispensing Himself into His chosen and redeemed people; the second principle is that we should interpret, develop, and expound the truths contained in the Bible with Christ for the church; and the third governing principle is Christ, the Spirit, life, and the church. No other study or exposition of the New Testament conveys the life nourishment or ushers the reader into the divine revelation of God’s holy Word according to His New Testament economy as this one does.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Bible, Genesis is the first book, the book of beginning; and Revelation is the last book, the book of closing, like the grand finale of the Bible, although you may not picture it that way. Like most people, I thought Revelation was all about things that were hard to understand. But with the Lord's help, nothing is impossible with Him, and that is what He has done for me. If you ever put a jigsaw puzzle together, you know each piece must be put in its correct place before you have a completed picture, and Revelation is like that. As we go through Revelation, puzzle pieces will be found in its chapters, beginning with seven churches. Then more pieces are found in God's wrath, starting with the seven seals, seven trumpets, seven vials, seven worship celebrations, and seven beatitudes. And each of those sevens will form a completed picture of how the end-times are revealed in Revelation. The thousand-year Millennium is next, with Jesus Christ ruling and reigning on the earth as the King of kings. And after that, Satan and sin is finished forever, and eternity begins without end! In this study of Revelation, we will see it is an amazing book with a wonderful ending! So why study Revelation? Because in Revelation 1:3, we are told, "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Roy Stout is well into his eighth decade in life, he has never received a complete education of the Book of Revelation. Although many bible study groups and even pastors seem to steer clear of this important book, Roy believes there is a wealth of knowledge to be unearthed within the scripture. Through careful research, Roy shares interesting tidbits of wisdom and contemplates other possibilities for believers about end times that include: • The Jews will inherit the earth that has no sea. • The Christians will inherit “The New Jerusalem” (a cube suspended in space) • Everybody’s name is written in the book of life. • Christ will make His third visit to earth before and after the tribulation. • Earth’s population will be cut in half to four billion, not including the war of Armageddon where millions will attack Israel or the Gog war where Gog the prince of Meshesh (the ancient name of Moscow) and Tubal attacks Israel. In this fascinating study, the subject of end times is presented in a clear-cut manner that will help Christians fully understand the complex Book of Revelation.

Download or read book Revelation written by M.R. DeHaan and published by Solid Christian Books. This book was released on 2015-05-07 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. (Rev. 1:3). Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (Rev. 22:7). The author of the book of the revelation is Jesus Christ (Rev. 22:16). The Lord intended that this book should be read and studied especially by His people (Rev. 1:3). It is not a sealed book, as many suppose, but one which is open and easy to understand (Rev. 22:10). Bearing these facts in mind, we find the study of Revelation to be fascinating, illuminating and deeply profitable, instead of difficult and confusing. The messages in this volume constitute thirty-five radio sermons which were preached first over the Mutual Network and by foreign and short-wave stations around the world, from August, 1945, to April, 1946. The response to these radio messages was so enthusiastic and the evident desire for light on the book of the Revelation so general that we soon decided to print these studies on one volume. Hence this book. No attempt has been made to present an exhaustive verse-by-verse exposition of the book, but, rather, we have tried to present the general outline, the basic structure and the framework. We have dwelt at length on certain passages because they constitute the pillars of the book. Our purpose is to present clearly the general outline and structure, and then the details will fall naturally into their proper places. If certain simple rules are followed in reading and studying it, the book of the Revelation becomes clear, logical and easily understood. We present here a few rules which should be observed before studying the book: 1. Revelation is not a dark book. It is a revelation. 2. It is not necessary for one to understand all the symbols and details if he is to gain a deeper knowledge of the book as a whole. One need not be able to identify every tree in the forest to appreciate the beauty of the forest as a whole. 3. Observe the rule of literal interpretation. The greatest curse of the Christian Church is the evil of spiritualizing the Bible. Although there are many symbols and signs in the book, as in every other book and in our daily conversation, the context indicates whether a passage is to be interpreted literally or symbolically. Interpret literally, except where the context or grammatical structure clearly indicates that the reference is a symbol or a sign. 4. Approach the Book with a “fresh” mind. Try to forget the views you have held concerning the Book because others have declared it to be mysterious and beyond our understanding. Thousands of believers never read Revelation, but carefully avoid it simply because someone told them it is a dark book and impossible to understand. Study the book for yourself. 5. Read the book prayerfully, realizing that the Holy Spirit who infallibly inspired the book is also the person Who must illuminate the book. Never read a portion of scripture without first asking Him for light and guidance. We submit for your help the following simple outline of Revelation. Remember these five rules as you study it. If you will memorize the outline thoroughly, and keep it clearly before your mind, you will have no trouble filling in the details. Grand Rapids, Michigan M. R. DeHaan

Book excerpt: Perfect for fans of HIlary Mantel and Philippa Gregory, C. J. Sansom's bestselling adventures of Matthew Shardlake continue in the fourth book, the haunting Revelation. 'When it comes to intriguing Tudor-based narratives, Hilary Mantel has a serious rival' - Sunday Times ‘Sansom has the trick of writing an enthralling narrative. Like Hilary Mantel, he produces densely textured historical novels that absorb their readers in another time’ - Andrew Taylor, Spectator England, 1543: King Henry VIII is wooing Lady Catherine Parr, whom he wants for his sixth wife. But this time the object of his affections is resisting. Archbishop Cranmer and the embattled Protestant faction at court are watching keenly, for Lady Catherine is known to have reformist sympathies. Matthew Shardlake, meanwhile, is working on the case of a teenage boy, a religious maniac locked in the Bedlam hospital for the insane. Should he be released to his parents, when his terrifying actions could lead to him being burned as a heretic? When an old friend is horrifically murdered Shardlake promises his widow, for whom he has long had complicated feelings, to bring the killer to justice. His search leads him to both Cranmer and Catherine Parr –and with the dark prophecies of the Book of Revelation. As London's Bishop Bonner prepares a purge of Protestants, Shardlake, together with his assistant, Jack Barak, and his friend, Guy Malton, follows the trail of a series of horrific murders that shake them to the core, and which are already bringing frenzied talk of witchcraft and a demonic possession – for what else would the Tudor mind make of a serial killer . . .? The atmosphere and tension of the Tudor world is brought to life in this gripping bestselling historical series, which continues with Revelation, Heartstone, Lamentation and Tombland.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a history book the Bible is unique, telling us about the future as well as the past. To become obsessed with either is to evade life’s challenges. Both perspectives are needed to live ‘over the circumstances’ of the present. The book of Revelation focuses on the future and can produce two reactions among Christians - some cannot get into it and others cannot get out of it!! We need a more balanced view of its significance. After all, it is the only book in the whole Bible to which God has attached a special blessing and an awful curse. It was written for ordinary people under extraordinary pressure. Suffering is the key to its understanding. It is a manual for martyrdom. As history draws to a close, all Christians need its message of warning and encouragement.

If you take the book from a literal perspective, the "unveiling" fits, and it creates a perfect panorama of man's final days. long with the text, I have created a practical application for our lives today. Revelation is relevant, and it permeates the reader with God's last word to mankind.....His Son Jesus Christ! The final invitation alone is worth the time spent to enjoy the "book."
