Book excerpt: Two thousand years ago, the Archangel Gabriel announced the coming of a new age with the birth of Jesus, the Christ. Now, Gabriel is proclaiming a new 2,000 year age, one of man's spiritual unity. This New Age was born January 23, 1997, when planets aligned to form a six point star - the same configuration that announced Jesus' birth 2,000 years ago. In this New Age, humans will follow the pattern of self mastery that Jesus demonstrated to awaken the soul. This, Gabriel says, is the Second Coming. It is not, "The Christ, the man, coming to rescue and save you...What he was telling you was that the Christ lies within you. You are the Christ. The time in evolution has come for the Christ Consciousness - the soul - to awaken in all humankind. We come to give you the step-by-step process for the awakening of the Christ Consciousness in all humanity." In this in-depth and intriguing interview, Joel D. Anastasi has transcribed wisdom received from the Archangel Gabriel, who communicated to Joel through trance channel, Robert Baker, his spiritual advisor. Working from hundreds of pages of interviews, Anastasi not only shares Gabriel's wisdom on great spiritual themes, but also provides Energizing Exercises to prepare you for the awakening of the soul.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The classic "All" series books have graced the shelves of pastors, students, and laypeople alike for decades. "All about The Second Coming" continues in the series' tradition of offering a faithful and comprehensive treatment of biblical subjects. Herbert Lockyer opens this work with disturbing words: "The doctrine of the Second Coming is one of the most abused and distorted in the Bible." To correct these abuses and distortions, he undertakes a detailed study of the book of Revelation. "Let us," he says, "read what the Bible has to say about Christ's coming, taking every reference at its face value." Section by section--sometimes verse by verse--he traces what this mysterious book says about the history of the world from Pentecost to the Rapture of the Church, from the Tribulation to the Great White Throne. He sheds light on often-troubling images and descriptions, helping readers feel as if they understand the message of Revelation. An appendix describes the rich significance of the many numbers appearing in Revelation, and the scripture index aids readers in finding answers to their specific questions.

Book excerpt: Nationally syndicated columnist Rheta Grimsley Johnson, winner of the Ernie Pyle Award for human interest reporting, turns her sharp eye on herself in this frank, exhilarating, wise, poignant, and brave memoir. Her territory ranges from childhood memories of ritual pre-interstate trips in the family station wagon to visit foot-washing Baptist relatives to young-girl fixations on the Barbie dolls of the title, from the simultaneous exuberance and proto-feminist doubts of young marriage to the aches of loves lost through divorce and death. Her memorable journalism career, which began on her college newspaper and rural weeklies and moved on to prestigious big-city dailies, was punctuated by her distinctive writing voice and an unerring knack for revealing her much-loved South through uncommon stories about its common people. This is a big-hearted book that will leave no reader unaffected.

Book excerpt: From the dark shadows of Neptune and Pluto, suddenly an unknown planet emerges, which after a cycle lasting thousands of years, has returned to our solar system, visible from Earth at night as a small star. With her arrival, Nibiru, as the ancients in pre-historic times called her, brings a horror that will afflict the earthlings as never before. Those, whom our ancestors considered gods, have returned to reclaim their legacy. No weapon can withstand this invasion, which is not of material nature and will mercilessly strike the non-physical part of man – his soul! This discovery opens his eyes to the indescribable terrifying truths, leading to an on madness bordering cognizance that takes its toll and leads to his death. His son, assisted by a wise Indian shaman, begins an almost impossible battle against unknown sinister threatening powers that attack humanity in the core. Thousands of humans are being evicted from their corporeal body. When these completely unknown entities approach the inhabitants of the White House and attack the president, one fears the worst. A possible salvation of mankind is hidden in mysterious images and petroglyphs on the Gateway of the Sun in Tiahuanaco, Bolivia. A journey full of strange and terrifying events leads the two men to bewildering, unfathomable answers to questions far beyond their intellect. In Siloam Springs, a little town in the United States, a fierce battle takes place, in which a small boy with incredible psychic powers, hopefully, can turn the tide, provided that both men could wrest the truth from the darkness of oblivion:the unknown past of mankind....

This book explores this possibility. God sends his only begotten Son to give the world a new way to see what he really intended when he started the whole thing. He wants to show mankind how they have misread what he intended. Jesus calls the leaders of all major religions to a meeting, where he will try and reconcile their beliefs to God’s wishes. Naturally, this visit stirs a great deal of controversy and many surprises. The conclusion of this visit is clear and easily understood. What does God want from us?
Download or read book Second Thoughts about the Second Coming written by Joe Reeves and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the book, Second Thoughts About The Second Coming, teacher, author, and systems engineer, Joe Reeves deals with many aspects of the idea of Jesus' second coming that are seldom considered by modern Christians; but, he does so from the standpoint of asking several critical questions. The basic questions he asks, and answers, in this book are, "can a book of scripture, at some later date, come to mean what it never meant?" Can a scriptural text, at a later date, come to mean what the author obviously did not intend it to mean to those of his original envisioned recipients to whom he wrote, and a meaning that the first recipients simply would not have understood? Then based on those answers, he asks and answers several questions about Jesus' resurrection, His resurrected nature, and His ascension. Then based on the biblical answers to those questions asks and answers the question about whether or not Jesus and the biblical writers predicted a "second coming." Using those questions, and the question of "specifically what would those first-century Christians have understood about what modern interpreters call Jesus' "second coming," as the basis for study, Joe uses his training and experience in systems thinking, Bible, history, cultural anthropology, and logic and philosophical realism to formulate a system of thinking that challenges many of the modern assumptions upon which the four most common doctrines about Jesus' second coming are based. For the person who wishes to learn more about how the first Christians would have used, and understood, the writings they received about Jesus' and His life after His resurrection, this book is a must read.

Written for the layman, not the scholar, each chapter is in one way or another about the return of Christ. Even though I have written four books on Bible prophecy, I plan to read this book and add it to my library. (Michael D. Fortner, publisher) AUTHORS of the chapters: 1. Harriet Beecher Stowe 2. D. L. Download or read book The Second Coming of Paisley written by Richard Lawrence Jordan and published by Syracuse University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-04 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Coming of Paisley is the first book to examine the relationship between the Reverend Ian Paisley and leaders of the militant wing of evangelical fundamentalism in the United States in the period immediately preceding the outbreak of the Northern Ireland "Troubles" in the late 1960s. Jordan convincingly demonstrates that it was exposure to the ideas and principles of leaders of the Christian right such as Carl McIntire and Billy James Hargis that enabled Paisley to develop a militant brand of politicized religious fundamentalism that he used successfully to block the advance of civil rights for Northern Ireland’s Catholic population. This cross-fertilization happened not in a historical vacuum but in the context of several centuries of interaction and exchange between Ulster and North America. Drawing upon extensive archival research, Jordan provides a full background analysis and establishes a framework for understanding the extraordinary force with which Reverend Paisley used a religious culture imported from the United States to affect a radical shake-up of religion and politics in Northern Ireland. Shedding new light on the influence of evangelical fundamentalism, The Second Coming of Paisley will be indispensable for scholars interested in the influence of religion on politics.

Download or read book WHAT DOES THE BIBLE REALLY SAY ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST written by Edward D. Andrews and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2014-11-05 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information herein is based on the disciples coming to Jesus privately, saying, “Tell us, (1) when will these things be, and (2) what will be the sign of your coming, and (3) of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:3) These questions refer to the end of an age, which was referred to in Matthew 24:1-2,1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when his disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to him. 2 And he said to them, “Do you not see all these things? [the temple buildings] Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.” In Matthew 24:3-28, Jesus is referring to the end of the Jewish age, which was to culminate in 66-70 C.E., with the desolation and destruction of Jerusalem and its temple. The disciples’ questions were based on a presumption the end of the temple to them, equaled the end of the age, encompassing Christ’s return, the judgment of the wicked and the setting up of his kingdom. Verses 3-28 are Jesus answering their question. In his words, he does address what will lead up to the end of the Jewish age, but what about the end of wicked humankind and the ruler of the world, the age (era) of Satan, and his second coming, Jesus’ kingdom, and his thousand year reign. We have to understand the end of the Jewish age as well, because all prophecy has a meaning to those who hear it, which will help us understand if it could be applicable to us. In conservative, evangelical, grammatical-historical interpretation, an author has only one referent for his words, as two referents would result in two meanings. Our position is that there is only one meaning of what an author meant by his words. This may sound complex now, but it will be unfolded more in later chapters, in a very easy to understand way. In chapters 1 and 2, we must address why Jesus is saying there would be an end of the Jewish age. In chapter 3, we will take a deep look at the signs that establish the great tribulation is closing in, and when is it time to flee. In chapter 4, we will go over the signs of the end of the Jewish age. In chapter 5, we will walk through the events leading up to the end of the Jewish age from 66 – 70 C.E. In chapter 6, we will cover the second coming of Jesus where the reader will get the answers as to whether verses 3-28 apply to his second coming. We will close out with chapter 7, and how we should understand the signs, and how we do not want to be led astray, just as Jesus warned even some of the chosen ones would be misled. We will also address what comes after the end.

After moving from his native South to New York City, Will’s most meaningful human connections come through the lens of a telescope in Central Park, from which he views the comings and goings of the eccentric Vaught family. But Will’s days as a spectator end when he meets the Vaught patriarch and accepts a job in the Mississippi Delta as caretaker for the family’s ailing son, Jamie. Once there, he is confronted not only by his personal demons, but also his growing love for Jamie’s sister, Kitty, and a deepening relationship with the Vaught family that will teach him the true meaning of home. Wealthy from a successful career on Wall Street and from the inheritance of his deceased wife’s estate, Will is universally admired at the club where he spends his days golfing in the North Carolina sun. But everything begins to unravel when, without warning, Will’s golf shots begin landing in the rough, and he is struck with bouts of losing his balance and falling over. Just when Will appears doomed to share the fate of his father—whose suicide has haunted him his whole life—a mental hospital escapee named Allison might prove to be the only one who can save him. From the New York Times–bestselling author of The Moviegoer, these novels have been acclaimed by Time magazine for “irony, understatement, and compassion” and praised by the New York Times as “wonderfully good reading.”
